asked

questions

what are your rates?

Rates vary by provider. In an effort to keep therapy accessible, we offer a variety of rates based on the level of expertise and training of each provider:

Heather Brown, LCSW

$200 per 53-minute session

$295 per 80-minute Brainspotting session (not covered by insurance)

Hanna Pierson, LMFT

$165 per 53-minute session

Jessica Michaels, ASW

$140 per 53-minute session

We also offer a limited number of sliding scale spots for those who need to pay out of pocket but cannot afford the full rate. Please contact us for more information

do you take insurance?

Yes! Insurance benefits vary from one plan to another, but in general we are able to accept the following*:

Optum

Western Health Advantage

United Healthcare

Anthem Blue Cross Medi-Cal

Please note that not all therapists take every insurance. Please contact us for more information.

If you have a PPO plan not listed above, you likely have out-of-network benefits that you can use to get reimbursed for part of your session fee. Use our benefits checker below to see what your cost for services would be under your plan. If you plan to use one of the insurances listed above, please do not use the benefits checker, we will conduct a complimentary review of benefits for you during your consultation call*.

*Please note that while we will review your benefits prior to your first session, this is not a guarantee of coverage. Occasionally, your insurance will quote a copay/coinsurance or deductible that is incorrect, and you may ultimately owe more, or less, per session than initially quoted. The final amount you owe for each session, if any, is only determined once a claim has been finalized by your insurance. It is your responsibility to know your benefits and be aware of any changes that may affect your coverage.

what is your cancellation policy?

Please let us know at least 24 hours in advance if you need to cancel or reschedule a session. Cancellations made within 24 hours of the appointment will incur a $100 fee.

How Long Are Sessions?

Sessions are typically 53 minutes unless otherwise agreed upon in advance with your therapist. Sessions less than 53 minutes are still charged at the full rate.

What hours are you open?

We offer sessions Monday through Friday by appointment. Each therapist has their own schedule, but hours of availability generally range from 9am to 6pm.

If you are reaching out to schedule an initial 20-minute phone consultation, we usually respond within 1 business day. Availability for consultation calls vary on a weekly basis, but we always strive to work around your schedule and offer the soonest available time.

do you offer both in-person and telehealth?

Yes! We’re proud to offer in-person sessions for those in the greater Sacramento area. We intentionally designed our office to be a comfortable and relaxing space that you can look forward to visiting at each appointment. For those who prefer to do sessions virtually, we are able to offer telehealth appointments to clients anywhere in California. Please note that you must be physically located within California at the time of your appointment.

Will I be provided with a Good Faith Estimate?

Yes. If you are paying out of pocket you will be provided with what is known as a Good Faith Estimate, which outlines your estimated cost of services. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 higher than your estimate, you have the right to dispute it. As your therapy journey progresses, your Good Faith Estimate may be updated and you will be provided with a copy of the revised estimate. Those using insurance to pay for sessions will not be given a Good Faith Estimate. If you plan to use insurance and have questions about your copay or other costs, please ask us prior to the start of your first session.
