Anxiety Therapy in Sacramento, CA

and online across California

Anxiety takes many different forms, but one thing is universal: it makes your world small. Unchecked anxiety will tell you, “You can’t go there, you won’t fit in,” “You can’t do that activity, everyone will laugh at you,” “You can’t ask for help, you’ll burden them.”

Anxiety tries to protect you from things that could cause you harm, but it ends up hurting you in the process. At Evoluer Counseling, our therapists are experts at treating anxiety and have helped countless clients learn how to manage their anxiety and get back to feeling like themselves again.

Help is available

So what’s actually going to help? Anxiety feeds off of avoidance, and when we learn to just avoid the things that make us afraid or uncomfortable, we teach it that it’s in control and it makes the anxiety worse. The solution is to continue stepping outside your comfort zone, one little bit at a time, until your world starts feeling bigger. To sum it up, the goal is to learn how to cope with your anxiety and do the scary thing anyway. Don’t worry, we teach you lots of coping skills to help you calm your nervous system and keep anxiety at bay so you can face your fears with confidence.

Types of anxiety therapy we offer

Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) - We will look at how the way in which you speak to yourself is affecting how you feel and act in response to your anxiety. Sessions often involve walking away with actionable steps you can take to start feeling better faster.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) - We teach you a variety of coping skills to help you calm your body and mind, be more present in your daily life and relationships, and communicate your needs effectively. These skills can be used in a variety of settings for the rest of your life and are a great investment into your overall happiness and wellbeing.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) - You’ll learn how to notice your thoughts and feelings without feeling consumed by them, as well as how to turn down the noise and focus your energy on what matters most to you. This is a great option for people who have tried to use logic or positive self-talk to change their thinking but haven’t found that strategy helpful.

Brainspotting (BSP) - A breakthrough therapy that involves deep processing of memories, beliefs, and emotions that influence the relationship you have with yourself, the way you interact with others, and so much more. Brainspotting is especially helpful when trauma is at the root of your anxiety.

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) - Used for phobias, panic attacks, and sometimes social anxiety (as well as OCD), ERP gives you the tools to face your fears in a controlled manner that doesn’t feel overwhelming. We spend time helping you build coping skills and identifying your biggest “why“ before starting, so you can begin exposures with a clear vision for how they’ll benefit you.
