Anxiety Therapy in Sacramento, CA
and online across California
Anxiety takes many different forms, but one thing is universal: it makes your world small.
Unchecked anxiety will tell you, “You can’t go there, you won’t fit in,” “You can’t do that thing, everyone will laugh at you,” “You can’t ask for help, you’ll burden them.”
Anxiety tries to protect you from things that could cause you harm, but it ends up hurting you in the process.
At Evoluer Counseling, we’ve helped countless clients learn how to manage their anxiety and get back to feeling like themselves again.
How do I know if I need anxiety therapy?
Read below for some common signs that you might benefit from seeing a therapist for your anxiety:
You’ve been struggling with:
Overthinking and rumination: you overthink every little thing and spend hours going over the details of past conversations and decisions
Self-doubt and low self-confidence: you frequently second guess yourself, talk down to yourself, or hold yourself back
Fear of failure or rejection: you worry so much about failing or being rejected that you don’t “put yourself out there“, making it hard to make friends, build relationships, and move forward in your career
And you:
Can’t seem to ever relax: you’re always tense, have trouble sleeping, and silence makes you uncomfortable
Have constant, racing thoughts: it feels like your brain is always “on“
Feel overwhelmed, like you’re barely keeping your head above water
Are tired of being told, “Just let it go”, when you know it’s not that simple
What types of anxiety do you treat?

People pleasing - a tendency to take care of the needs and emotions of others over your own

How does therapy help with anxiety?
There are many things that can keep anxiety going, including speaking negatively to yourself, avoiding people and places that spike your anxiety, unresolved trauma, and even some lifestyle habits (yes, drinking too much caffeine might be setting off your anxiety, sorry!).
We’ll help you find what’s at the root of YOUR anxiety so you’re getting treatment tailored to your specific situation.
What therapy approaches do you use to treat anxiety?
Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) - We will look at how the way in which you speak to yourself is affecting how you feel and act in response to your anxiety. Sessions often involve walking away with actionable steps you can take to start feeling better faster.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) - We teach you a variety of coping skills to help you calm your body and mind, be more present in your daily life and relationships, and communicate your needs effectively. These skills can be used in a variety of settings for the rest of your life and are a great investment into your overall happiness and wellbeing.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) - You’ll learn how to notice your thoughts and feelings without feeling consumed by them, as well as how to turn down the noise and focus your energy on what matters most to you. This is a great option for people who have tried to use logic or positive self-talk to change their thinking but haven’t found that strategy helpful.
Brainspotting (BSP) - A breakthrough therapy that involves deep processing of memories, beliefs, and emotions that influence the relationship you have with yourself, the way you interact with others, and so much more. Brainspotting is especially helpful when trauma is at the root of your anxiety.
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) - Used for phobias, panic attacks, and social anxiety (as well as OCD), ERP gives you the tools to face your fears in a controlled manner that doesn’t feel overwhelming. We spend time helping you build coping skills and identifying your biggest “why“ before starting, so you can begin exposures with a clear vision for how they’ll benefit you.

Research consistently shows that the most effective treatment for anxiety is a combination of both medication and therapy. Anxiety therapy is a great option for those who hope to get off medication one day, or who simply want to build more resilience so that they’re not reliant on medication alone to help them feel better.
In addition, we’ve seen great outcomes for clients who are open to their psychiatrist and therapist collaborating.

Absolutely. We will teach you strategies to calm both your mind and body so that you can actually relax and feel at ease when you want to.
Please note that sometimes anxiety symptoms can look like symptoms of a physical health condition and vice versa. We will always refer you to a physician if there’s any chance that your physical symptoms are better explained by an underlying medical condition.
